Mystery Machine Studios was built in 2006 in the basement of a classy house in Portland’s inner Southeast neighborhood.
Now, when you think “Portland basement” you might think of damp concrete walls and rattling water heaters. However, this particular basement was professionally designed and constructed for the sole purpose of recording music and it consequently sounds wonderful. It has the warmth and intimacy of a safe and quiet home, and yet it is a professional studio with all the equipment needed to produce whatever sound you hear in your head. Think of beautiful hardwood floors and oriental rugs mixed with tube pre-amps and dozens of quality microphones.
